David joined the business in June 2015 as CEO. David has held a number of senior roles in the international banking industry including, most recently, the position of Chief Executive Officer of Allied Irish Banks. David was also previously Chief Executive Officer of Standard Bank International covering Asia, Latin America, the UK and Europe. He was also previously Head of Global Wholesale Banking Network of ING Group and President and Chief Executive Officer of the ING franchises in the US and Latin America. Prior to that, he worked with Goldman Sachs International in various senior positions including Head of Human Resources Europe.
Debbie is Clydesdale Bank’s Group Chief Operating Officer and an Executive Director, having joined the PLC’s Board in May 2014. The appointment to the COO role in January 2015 followed a period when Debbie had responsibility for all of the Bank’s Operations and IT and for establishing a Customer Trust and Confidence division that focused the organisation’s culture, processes and behaviours on delivering better outcomes for customers.
Debbie joined Clydesdale Bank in 1997 following a spell with the Prudential Assurance Company. She held a number of strategic and planning roles, mainly in the IT and Development field before being appointed as Chief Information Officer in 2008. During this period Debbie was instrumental in unifying the different infrastructure and operating systems of Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks. In 2011, Debbie’s role was expanded to included responsibility for payments, collections and recoveries and all back office processing for the Bank.
In the first half of 2015 Debbie was the Bank’s acting Chief Executive Officer.
Debbie was invited to provide evidence to the UK Parliament’s inquiry into Women in the Workplace and in 2015 became the first female executive to sign Scottish banknotes.
Debbie was a Non-Executive Director of the Scottish Court Service for over three years, and Chairman of their Audit committee. She has an Honours degree in Industrial Relations from the University of Strathclyde and is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers.
Ian joined us on 1 November 2014, and serves on the Executive Leadership Team, reporting to our Chief Executive, David Duffy. Ian has over 20 years’ experience in finance, audit and consultancy across the UK banking sector. He joined the business from Deloitte, where he was a partner specialising in financial services for a combined total of 13 years. Ian also held senior finance roles in HBOS plc and Lloyds Banking Group plc between 2008 and 2010.
Kate joined the business as Group Human Resources Director in January 2016, with responsibility for developing and leading HR strategy. Kate has over 30 years of domestic and international HR experience, having worked in six different blue chip organisations in four industrial sectors. Most recently, she spent more than a decade with Lloyds Banking Group, where she was latterly the HR Director responsible for leading the Group’s Culture, Capability and Engagement.
Fergus joined the group as Products Director in January 2016 and became Group Customer Value Director in March 2017. He is responsible for the delivery of our product suite including pricing, liability strategy and capital allocations.
Fergus has 20 years of experience in financial services gained from Allied Irish Banks (AIB) where he held a number of key roles including Director of Products & Capital Markets and, most recently, Director of Corporate and Institutional Banking. He has also held a number of senior positions across Europe and Asia including roles as CEO and Managing Director of EBS Building Society and the CEO of Asia Region for Rabobank International.
Gavin joined the group in 2015 as Group Customer Banking Director, with responsibility for Retail and Business & Private Banking. Gavin has over 30 years of leadership experience in risk, operations and across frontline digital, retail, commercial, corporate and investment banking services. Gavin was previously Regional Head of Consumer Banking, Standard Chartered based in China, and prior to that held a number of senior positions across Asia in a career spanning 20 years with Barclays Group.
Helen joined the business in December 2012, and has over 20 years’ experience in marketing, consultancy and customer propositions. Almost fifteen of those years have been spent in financial services. Prior to joining us, Helen spent 8 years at RBS in a number of roles. She became Managing Director for Marketing and Customer Experience and held responsibility for all UK brands across the Retail, Commercial and Corporate divisions. During this time, Helen was responsible for developing and delivering “Helpful Banking” for NatWest.
Helen was also Head of Brand Marketing at Argos, where she re launched the catalogue company as a Retailer, and played a key role in driving the business to win ‘Retailer of the Year’. Before Argos, Helen held a number of product and marketing roles at Abbey (now Santander), where she became Head of Marketing. She also has experience in research, consultancy and central government roles.
James was appointed as our Group General Counsel in November 2014. Having joined NAB in 2005, his roles there included leading NAB’s London Branch legal team and roles supporting NAB and Clydesdale Bank Treasury activities as part of NAB’s Capital & Funding legal team in Melbourne and London. Before joining NAB, James worked in private legal practice at Hogan Lovells in London.
Mark was appointed in September 2016 and has over 28 years of Financial Services experience. He joined us from HSBC where he was Chief Risk Officer responsible for management and oversight of risk for HSBC’s Retail Banking and Wealth Management business in 18 countries across the UK, Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Mark has also held a number of senior international positions including President and CEO (Asia) with Home Credit in Hong Kong and he was also an Executive Director and Business Head (Russia) with Renaissance Capital in Moscow. With Citigroup he progressed from Chief Risk Officer (UK & Ireland) to become CEO of CitiFinancial (Russia). Prior to Citi, he worked with Associates Capital Corporation, latterly as Executive and Business Head, based in India.
Enda was appointed to the role in June 2016. He is responsible for leading the strategic planning process across the Bank, and our strategic stakeholder engagement plan - fully aligning this to our cultural transformation and customer / commercial strategies.
Before joining the Bank in 2015, Enda worked at Allied Irish Banks in Dublin, where he joined as Head of Strategy and was appointed to Head of Corporate Affairs / Strategy and the Executive Leadership Team in July 2012. Prior to this, Enda was as a member of the Banking Unit at the Irish National Treasury Management Agency (NTMA), where he worked on the recapitalisation and restructure of Irish banks following the global financial crisis and subsequent programme of financial support for Ireland provided by the IMF, ECB and EU in 2010.
Before joining the NTMA, he worked with Merrill Lynch in New York, London and California, in their investment banking and capital markets divisions focusing on client advisory and equity transactions for global clients on a cross industry basis.
